Several years ago, one of my students had a remarkable experience. He was rudely awakened in the middle of an end-of-summer night, startled by the sound of unexpected, torrential rain. Remembering that he had left the sunroof open on his car, he quickly dashed outside, wearing nothing more than flimsy pajamas.
Fighting this downpour, he struggled to get the top on, getting completely drenched. Right away, he noticed a loud, insistent thought: Crap! Now I’m going to catch a cold!
That thought sounded just like his mother’s voice when she would reprimand him for not wearing a jacket. Right of course, his body would obediently, immediately, get sick.
The sunroof now secured, he noticed his throat felt sore, and he felt rather sick-ish.
But, as one of my aware students, he remembered he had a choice: He could believe that thought and ultimately get sick, or he could tell it no way, not true, false belief!
He chose the later.
You know what happened? His throat instantly relaxed, and he felt just fine.
His story was evidence that often, there’s a split-second right before we get sick where we can make a choice to not accept it.
What’s a Body?
Your body is simply a vehicle transporting your spirit so it can experience human life, learn lessons, clean things up and guide you toward what you’re meant to do here.
Knowing that your spirit is the designated owner and operator, not relegated to sitting shotgun, can allow your perception of your body to shift.
Disease and physical issues are often the way your Higher Consciousness (spirit) gives you messages.
It tries in other ways, but is usually ignored.
Here’s how it works: If you ignore your intuition (the way your spirit communicates), the message is then delivered through your logical mind. If you ignore your logical mind, the message is delivered through your emotions. If you ignore your emotions, its last resort is to try to deliver it physically.
Scenario: You intuitively sense you should take time off from work. You don’t listen because it doesn’t make sense, so you now have persistent thoughts about quitting your job. You don’t listen and suddenly you’re feeling angry all the time. You still don’t listen and “suddenly” your body gets sick and you’re forced to take time off.
Ahhh, if only you had listened to your intuition.
Your body also communicates by letting you know when you’re in denial.
Science validates that suppressed emotions, untrue thoughts (such as programmed false beliefs) and unacknowledged fears, manifest physically in some way. Whatever shows up symbolizes what you aren’t willing to acknowledge, even things that appear to be random or accidental.
What’s your body trying to say? (I can help with that)
Once you ask and listen it will make sense.
Can You Heal It?
As a spirit, you have capabilities that go far beyond what you’ve been taught.
However, undoubtedly there are countless programmed notions lurking in the way. Afterall, from day one you’ve been spoon fed beliefs that disease is inevitable, and you have no power to heal yourself.
By discovering and resolving the issues your body is reflecting, what you’re in denial of, or what rewards you’re receiving from those physical problems, healing can happen.
But honestly, since programmed notions about physicalness go deep, sometimes it's challenging.
But, even if the problem remains, this inner journey allows you to accept and be grateful for what you’re experiencing, learn Big Life Lessons and clean up things you may not have been conscious of.
Most importantly, you can stop just going along for the ride and shift into being the driver of this remarkable vehicle you’re currently inhabiting.
