Questioning everything has always been my M.O. I'm a child of the ‘60’s, after all.
That was a turbulent time. Determinedly, we dug in our heels, shovels excavating every facet of life. This relentless digging revealed treasure troves of hidden information, broke through invisible barriers, shattered long-held ideas and unraveled systemic views.
Even though the older generation wagged its fingers, our anti-blind-acceptance attitude eventually awakened the world, influencing every inch of life.
Humanity evolved despite this oft-times fierce resistance.
Questioning Matters
Truth is, you question because you love.
Whether in a relationship, society or the world, you wouldn’t bother to question unless you cared. Deeply.
Like feeling so much rage toward your spouse simply because you feel so much love for them. Your degree of anger truly shows your degree of caring.
Now, with poised camera phones instantly posting on social media, you can watch livestream as people get murdered, observe in real time as climate change decimates the planet, hear politicians lie as fact checkers immediately counter them.
Makes it pretty much impossible to hide what’s really going on, and even more impossible to keep your head safely buried in the sand.
Then What?
What you find out might be disturbing, but in the long run, it’s better to know. Things that are hidden end up rotting, creating malignancy which destroys relationships, physically affects you and the planet in some way.
Once something is revealed, it’s difficult to push it down. Ah, those cans of worms, right?
Or, my favorite saying: Once you know you can’t unknow.
Now the challenge becomes: You have to change your mind.
And that’s not an easy task for most humans.
Questioning the Hidden
Excuse this very true spiritual cliché: If you want to change the world you have to change yourself.
Think of it like this: Einstein proved that everything is energy (that’s physics, not philosophy). That means that humanity is inter-connected as one energetic body.
Imagine each of us as a cell in that body. When one cell changes, the entire body changes.
It’s the old “Butterfly Effect,” even the smallest thing someone does affects the entire world.
Now, about those cells trying super hard not to change: Needless to say, it just doesn’t work.
It can’t work.
Shift Happens
With the questioning and exposing of truth going on everywhere, things are changing rapidly, whether you like it or not. Actually, it could be said that this is the most significant transformation of consciousness ever, both individually and collectively.
But, how flexible are you?
Not just in the touching your toes kind of way, but in the changing your mind kind of way.
Are you open to seeing things differently, changing a long-held position, challenging a fixed belief system, maybe even switching sides?
If you’re busy defending yourself, arguing for “the good ole days,” sidestepping truths, dodging facts, you’re invested in being that one “cell” trying to block the flow of change.
I repeat: It won’t work.
Why? The more you resist change, those cells gang up and force you to change.
And, besides, whatever you’re arguing vehemently about is simply showing you a denied part of yourself. Mirrors never lie. (here's another blog that goes into detail about mirrors)
One final spiritual cliché: The only way to REALLY change the world is by changing from the inside.
Be that cell.
And once enough of us do that, real change can and will happen.
