Hearing the Supreme Court’s surprising decision about abortion, part of me reacted in shock and horror. How could this five decade old right be taken with the stroke of a pen? Are women denied equality, subordinated back to second class citizens? What is happening to our world?
My life is about spiritual inquiry, an ongoing pursuit to find meaning, understanding and awakening in everything that happens. This event brought my contemplation to a higher summit.
My biggest question surfaced: Are we evolving or going backwards?
I have been teaching my “Tarzan Theory” for decades. Picture the King of the Jungle in his loincloth swinging from vine to vine, needing to swing backwards in order to gain momentum to reach his next vine.
This image shows that what appears to be going backward is actually gaining speed to go forward.
The global transformation occurring on every level is impossible to reverse. This massive shift in consciousness is amping up exponentially. The enduring question of who we are as a species, how can we finally evolve from fear to love, has taken the lead.
A memory from decades ago appears in my mind. I was standing in a voting booth ready to punch a ballot to register my presidential choice, one I felt passionate about.
As I looked at the name of the other candidate, I had a life-altering moment.
I knew that no matter whom I voted for, on a spiritual level I had already made my choice. The winner would bring imperative lessons that the world needed and we had all chosen him to do that for us.
In retrospect, it is clear what the winner brought to us: Planetary shifts, karmic clean ups, and eye-opening wake-ups.
You chose to be alive during this challenging time because you have an offering, a purpose in being. You are here brimming with possibility that only you can provide.
Hold up a mirror and look deeply at what is being reflected. Wake up and step out of denial. See the lessons you have chosen. Remember who you really are.
Global issues have metastasized, presenting serious human consequences. You are here to respond, to commit, to do more. Be more.
Set your intention to model, teach and inspire peace.
Apply inner awareness tools so you can pay attention and be present.
Allow your spiritual perception to kick in so you can trust whatever is happening.
Know there are big reasons for everything. even if they make no sense right now. It will.
Know that you are empowered to take emboldened, loving action. Or to just plant important seeds.
Be the love. Even when challenged. Even when hopeless. Even when enraged.
Being born during this evolutionary time was your choice. And it was a perfect and necessary choice.
