Random things remind me of a dear friend who passed a year ago. My daily news-reading ritual prompts thinking about her passionate political persuasion. We had long discussions about the state of the world, agreeing that there was much to be accomplished. Putting it mildly.
I don’t think it was coincidental that she left this world on January 6th.
Remembering how unexpected her death was helps renew my passion for living life fully. To make the most out of every day. To cherish every relationship. To feel what it means to be alive in this body, taking hold of each moment. To do what I came here to do. Committedly.
Death itself doesn't frighten me. Not fulfilling my purpose does. Imagining that, on my death bed, assessing my life, believing I blew it once again, is terrifying. Yes, I emphasize the word again since I have clear memories of many lifetimes where I did not fulfill my chosen assignments and had to return to do it right. Again and again.
This time I have a pinky-promise intention to not let that happen. No way.
On a spiritual level, we all know why we are here. We are born with that knowing. But then, life happens, and we forget. Rather, we block it out. It appears easier to not know. In the long run, it’s not. Nothing more heart breaking to not manifest our true purpose.
Remember when you knew? Maybe you were little, and you wanted to be a veterinarian. Then you discovered you were terrible at science, so gave up. Maybe the universe kept presenting hints, gentle taps or strong pushes and you ignored them. Maybe you veered toward that purposeful direction, but it was challenging, easier to relinquish your dreams for a regular paycheck.
I am here to remind you that you can always, always start living from a purposeful place. But do so now. It’s up to you to commit to live authentically you. It does not matter the number of years you have spent here. Start.
It is time to clear away what does not serve your purpose. Resolve whatever programmed false notions you’ve been lugging around, the fears that immobilize you. As one of my six-year-old students reminded: "They are just fears."
You deserve to express what you came here to say or do. Whatever it is.
It is your choice to live life embracing your power, or buy into fear. Yes, there might be some big challenges, but know there is always a way. Releasing the origins of self-sabotaging fear might mean doing some soulful delving. Know I am here to support that, and know that miracles do happen.
It is time to fully awaken to the amazing person that you are. To live a life filled with meaning. To know that anything and everything you do matters. To courageously choose love over fear in the way you are meant to.
Allow the universe to support you on this purposeful journey.
